ENTERTAINMENTS.
COMIC OPERA SEASON. '—' The Gondoliers.'—
A full house, upstairs and down, attended the second and last performance of 'The Gondoliers' last night by the Williamson iepertoir-3 company at His Majesty's Theatre. The tuneful music wag evidently highly appreciated, and encores were numerous. The novel 'Radium Ballet' was repeated for the last time. —'Yeomen of the Guard.'— To-night tho company make their farewell appearance in opera, when Gilbert and Sullivan's favorite production, 'The Yeomen of the Guard,' will bo staged. The east :s practically the same as that which last played in this opera here a year or so ago, and the remembrance of the success achieved then should bo sufficient to ensure a crowded' house. FULLERS' ENTERTAINERS. There was another good attendance at the Alhambra Thoatre last evening, and the present excellent 'programme readily secured the cordial appreciation of the audience. The earthquake pictures arc a source of never-failing interest, and are well deserving of u second visit. To-night the Gibson Girls make their final appearance. 'THE FATAL WEDDING.' The fame of the young folk's "Tin-can Band" in tho successful, musical drama, 'The Fatal Wedding,' has already been heralded to Dunedin, and the advent of this bevy of over thirty children associated with Messrs Mcynell and Gunn's clever company is already creating much interest in local circles. The sensational success of the play iu America and England, and now its* remarkable popularity in Australia, aro wellknown facts. For over eleven weeks at the Theatre Royal, Melbourne, hundreds were turned away nightly, and its triumphs wore again repeated throughout the Northern centres of this colony. At tho present moment the theatre is said to he not large enough to accommodate the crowds. The season begins at His Majesty's Thea.tre to-morrow (Saturday) evening, and is limited to absolutely seven nights only ; as the company depart for Australia on Sunday week. A glance at the cast reveals, the fact that two artists new to Australia, are amongst ',he principals—Mr Charles Vane and Miss May Congdon—both artists of high English repute. To these must also be added the names of several favorites—Miss Amy Singleton, Miss Dina Cooper (a lady who for some time appeared with great success with the Knight Jeffries Company), Messrs Herbert Leigh, Tom Oannam," C. R. Stanford, Oily Deering, Harry M'Lennan, etc. The dramatic incidents are said to be of the most startling character. One scene represents the paliteulcs on the Hudson River by night, and another the interior of Grace Church. New York. Tho plans are in constant requisition at the' Dresden, and everything points to a successful season. OPERA COMPANY'S CONCERT. To-morrow evening at the Garrison Hall Mr J. C. Williamson's Opera Company will make tbeh* farewell appearance in Dunedin by presenting a popular concert at popular prices. The programme arranged for the ocoafikm will be participated in V-y the entire strength of the company. ' Trial by Jury' will be given, and, judging by the manner in which other productions by Messrs Gilbert and Sullivan have been preseated during the searon, the cantata is jiot r.kelv to suffer in its interpretation by Mr Wttlko*, Mr Whyte, Mr Crane, Miss Aggio Thome, and the strcag chores of the opera camyaoj.
