THE MANAWATU SHOW.
PALMERSTON NORTH, June 19,
The fourth annual winter show opened without ceremony in threatening weather. At noon everything was in readiness. The display of machinery in motion was quite as interesting as that of' last year, and some new features were added. There is an increase in exhibits all round. It was decided yesterday to fclose the show the whole of Thursday afternoon, out* of respect to the memory of the Premier, but the Executive this afternoon revised that decision, a protest having been entered by exhibitors, and they will now close for half an hour only—viz., from 2.30 to 3 p.m. Slack Bros won the Royal Horticul-. tural Society’s medal for the • best collection of vegetables, and also the Luxford challenge shield of 25 guineas for a collection of farm roots.
