The said proposed Bill recites that by "The Otago 'Dock Act, 1883," the Otago Harbor Board was enabled to construct at Port Chalmers a Graving Dock •of sufficient dimensions to admit vessels drawing 25 feet of water, but the said Act contains no other provisions as to the dimensions of the said Dock. That by " The Otago Dock Act 1833 Amendment Act, 1885." the Otago Dock Trust was constHuted. and all the powers of the Otajjo iHarbor Board in relation to the construction of the said Graving Dock were transferred to it. That the. Otago Dock Trust has, in pursuance of Ha powers under the last-men-tioned Act, borrowed the sum of £75,000, and has entered into a Contract for the Construction of a Graving Dock at Port Chalmers of the following dimensions : { Length on floor ~ ~- 500 feet Entrance width at coping level _ 70 feet Width inskie Dock at coping level ._ 90 feet Width inside Dock efc bilge level _ 67 feet Depth of Dock on invert ?.7 feet Depth of Dock on floor 30 feet ' Depth of water at high-water mean, ! ordinary spring tides ... 22 feet And thai the said Dock is now in coarse Df construction.
