DIED IN A CELL.

HAMILTON, March 25. At the inquest on James Mills, who was found dead with his throat cut in a police cell at Ngaruarawhia, the post mortem disclosed that the deceased was suflering from alcoholic 'ooisoning. Death was due to syncope, caused by fatty degeneration of the heart, accelerated bv shock, due- to wounds, which, no doubt, were self-inflicted, but the wounds in themselves were not sufficient to cause the death of a healthy man. A verdict was returned in accordance with the medical testimony.
