CHRISTCHURCH, March 22. At the meeting of the Charitable Aid Board yesterday a long discussion took place on th<> findings of the Commissioner (Mr appointed to investigate th© Waltham Orphanage trouble. A motion was adopted—“ That, in the opinion of the Board, the Commissioner’s findings—(a) That the Orphanage has been improperly managed and controlled ; (b) that the allegation of the abrence pf moral training was proved; (c) that the charge of lack of example and influence was true—are not borne ont by the evidence adduced at the inquiry; also *hat it is* the duty of the State to look after its children.” The Board asked the Government to take the necessary steps to carry this into effect during the next- session of Parliament. The Board resolved to retain the Orphanage as a receiving home, and to advertise for a new matron, .
