(Received March 22, at 7.36 a.m.) The Court-martial sitting at Ixopo sentenced six of the chief Mokofelio’s people to death for taking arms against the King, hut afterwards commuted the sentences to ten and seven years’ imprisonment, in addition to the fines.
AN IMPROVED SITUATION,
CAPE TOWN - , March 21. (Received March 22, at .7.36 a.m.) Colonel Mackenzie fined Umzino, a native chieftain, and his tribe 1,500 cattle, and confiscated their shields and assegais in the of the military. This act has greatly improved the native demeanor.
