MID-WEEK' HOLIDAYS.
TO THK EDITOR. Sir, —Half a day's pay was lost to thousands last week to enable, a few score of people to spend a few minutes in a polling booth. A day and a-half's pay is going to be lost to many thousands this week failing some intelligent arrangement by which Anniversary Day ma}' be kept on Saturday or Monday. Factories and foundries, where fires' have to be kept up, cannot close on Friday and open on Saturday. I call upou the Chamber of Commerce, the Trades Hall, and the Press to rawe their united voices against the stupid waste of mid-week holidays, which entail loss and privation on all hands.—l am. etc., J. W. Mpa-ks, Manager Plxenix Companv, Limited. March 21.
