What surprised ms most was the 'great number of children, many of whom were out for their first railway outing, and the way thev were neatly ‘and deanly dressed speaks volumes in praise of them mothers. I have seen scores of picnics start from the railway station, but none plea.sed wo so much .v: the one I witnessed this morning.' My first railway “outing” was to St. Andrews, Scotland, fifty years ago.— 1 am, etc., St. AjiDSEW. March 17.
