t —= —«■—-^— ■ DUNEDIN CLUB. The Dtmecrui Football Crab held their annual meeting at the Stock Exchange last evening. There was a. large, attendance, and Mr S. Solomon presided. .. , In moving the adoption of the report, the Chairman, said that in it he noted the reference to. the fact that none of the teams had done so well.ag they had hoped last year, although none of them had done.so badly as they might have done.—(Laughter.) He had been,"disappointed with the first fifteen, -who had fallen away in an unaccountable maimer,'but he had great hopes of the Dtmedin dub winning in the coming season:. The only way was to,stick mto it, get into training, and get themselves into condition. No one took greater interest m their success than he did, and be was delighted when he saw them winning. He had heard, them well spoken of on ail sides, and it was said of them - that they were not only good, clean, sports,, bat that they deserved to win, because they teed their'very best. They-should try to get more heavy-weights among them, as tbey wanted a little more weight in their team. They had started a, fourth team, wlio had won half the matches theyplayed. The finances of the curb were in very good condition. There was no • fear for* them. The fear was the physical: condition of the men. The motion was seconded 'by Mr S. Watson. :••..'. Mr Dunne said that- icc-the first team- the forwards had trained to a man, but the backs had been out of training. The forwards last year had been~as good aa anything in Dunedin.' The motion was carried. The election of office-bearers resulted as folkvms-:—President, Mr S. Solomon; vicepresidents—Dr Hunrterand Messrs S. Jacobs and J. Williams; MrD.R. Ck>rson secretary, Mr J. K. Ross treasurer and insurance secretary, Mr H. Paton delegate to the Otago Sports Protection. .Association, Mr J. B. Fnmigan auditor, and Messrs H. F. Sincock, St. J. Dunne, J. Whelan •I. Harper, D. K. Torrance. P. Fkzpatnck, and J. Haydon a committee, thirteen being nominated. Regarding the election of delegates to the 0.R.P.U., Mr Sincock said that notice of motion had been lodged-with, the R*gby Union to ameiKl the constitut'km with respect to the election of romrriTtfceernen to the Union. In the past, sitting members ol tfcp Union had had a vote. In tie motion the desire was to only give votes to delegates fiom clubs. Consequently, if the club did not favor the motion they would send two new delegates who would: vote ni conjunction with the two sitting members with the object of defeating the motion. A certain number of clubs wished for- this reform, and said the Omuratiee had a block vote, and could practically carry everything before them. Should the reform come about, thoy would' have men sent there by the clubs, and not by the Union. Dr Hunter said the position was that if two new men were sent they would go to the" meeting with four votes, and if the measure was lost they would 1 have two votes. 'The Chairman suggested that they might elect two new men, who, if it became necessary, could retire in favor of Dr Hunter (and Mr Siricock. Mr Haydon. moved—'-'That the. club are of opinion that only delegates should be members of the Executive of the Rugby Union, with the exception of the president and vice-presidents." The motion was carried. Dr Hunter and Mr iSincock were then nominated delegates. > . . During a rather protracted discussion, Dr Hunter said that if the motion.' wese passed at the Union meeting he would resign- from the Union. The Chairman said that under those circumstances it would be of no use electing Dr Hunter as a delegate. After still further debate, Mr S. Solomon was eventually nominated, Dr- Hunter's nomination being struck out, and Messrs Solomon and Sincock were duly appointed delegates to the O.R.F.U. It was decided that fourteen days' notice should be given in connection with altering any existing rules at an annual ox special meeting. Rule No. 8, respecting the Selection Committee, which was to coaSkt of the captain, deputy-captain, and Mr Torrance was altered. The coach and Messrs Torrance, Whelan, and Dunne were elected to select the fifteens for the first match. Mr J. Whelan was elected practice captain. Mr S. Jacobs then presented Mr P. Fitzpatrick, as representative of the Otago team, with a cap, a function which was followed by cheers for the recipient. .
ALHAMBRA CLUB. The annual meeting of the Alhambra Football Club, held in the Trades Hall last evening, was well attended, Mr G. A. Restieaux (president) occupying the chair. The Chairman, in moving tie adoption of the report and balance-sheet, said that the fine performances of the club throughout the season were very gratifying, indeed. The Alhambra had established a new record, which lie thought wouldetand for a long time. • He witnessed the match against the 'Varsity on the Caledonian Ground last year, and the play of the First Fifteen that day was just as good as any ever shown by the old Alhambra.—(Applause.) It ofid not look as .if our football was going back when a team could give an exhibition like the one witnessed in that match. The Second Fifteen had a lot to contend with, because immediately the first was in trouble they picked the best from the second. Still, the second only lost three matches, and, as they all knew, their other four teams won the premiership in their respective grades—a record that would be hard to boat. The success of the senior teams was sufficient guarantee thait the club's football would not go back for years to come. Although the club only had one member in the New Zealand team, another member (Mr J. King) had the 5 option of going as a member of that great combination. The club members were to be congratulated on the way they had taken advantage of the insurance scheme, while they had also put np a record ui the matter of sufascrrotions. They now had a credit balance of £l6 odd. Mr J. Watson seconded the motion, which was carried. Fourteen new members were-elected. Handsome caps were then haaded by the chairman to Messrs Marsden, A. Mitchell, C. Miles, "R. Larkbos, W. Renwick, Stronach, and Harrhy...." These were junior' players who had risen to senior honors. Two members (Messrs Dobson and M'Leod) entitled to presentation caps wore absent. The opening day was fixed for 24th March, ■.-.." . ! The following were elected office-bearers for the current year :—President, Mr A. Restaeaux (re-elected); vice-presiden<ts— Messrs J. Alien, M.H.R., : M. Higgins, W. Bastings, D. Fhrnegan, C.
