AMATEUR SPORTS MEETING.
The weather was most unfavored.' the first annual sports meeting <.■ .■ Civil Service Harrier and! Amateur Athletic Club, held on the Carisbiook Ground this afternoon. The heavy rain overnight and this morning left the track and turf very heavy, while the unsettled state of the weather in tho afternoon crippled the attendance. The meeting: was nm on perfect' lines by a capable staff of officials. The only pity ii that their efforts were not rewarded with better weather and a larger attendance. Titchener led into the straight, where French joined him, and tlxe two closely fighting every inch of ground, French got home by a couple of inches.
