meeting of the Otago Lodge-. U.A.0.D., was held in tlte Oddfellows’ Hall, Rattray street, on Wednesday km-, Arch Druid Bio. StcnfSbrd presiding*. One candidate was initiated. An official visit was received from tho Lily of tho Valley lodge, tho members of winch, on entering the lodge room, were received and welcomed with musical honora It was resolved to pay an official visit to tlm Bay Lodge. During the evening D.G. Guar. Bro. Mitchell, on behalf of the members of the Lodge, presented to Past AD. Bro. J_ Robertson a framed P.A. diploma, as a mark of appreciation of Bro. Robertson.’© work in the lodge during his term of office. Amongst the visitors were Bros. Smith (Ivanhoe), Birt (Pride of Monrington), and Duncan (Timaru). Receipts, £l4 Ob Bd. The installation of the R.W. Master and tlie investiture of officers of Lodge St. John Kilwinning, No. 662, S.C., took place in the Masonic Hall, North-east Valley, an Thursday, in the presence of a large number of brethren. The Lodge was opened ah seven o’clock by the R.W.M., Bro. Hatfield, and after the usual routine business tlw (hair was taken by the B.W.DiD.GAI. Bro. Springer, assisted W the D.G. Lodge officers. The R.W.D.D.G.M. proceeded, according to .indent custom, to install Bro. James ,G. Stevens as R.W. Master for the ensuing year, the whole of the ceremonies being impressively earned out under tho eupesvision of R.W. Bro. W. Begg, D-G.IXC. The R.W. Master was proclaimed and saluted, after which IL W. Bro. T. S, Graham, D.QAL, Otago and Southland, E.C., invested the following officers:—S. W-, Bro. Q. L. M'Gawin ; J.W., Bro. D. M. Mnnro; treasurer, Bro. J. CdmpbdL, PAL; secretary, Br- t. W. B. Anderson, P.M. ; chap-, I sm. V Armstead, P.M. ; S.D., Bro. F. Dy.vk ; J.D., Bro. W. Harvey; LGL, Bro. H. .1. Armstrong; tylcr, Bro T. S. Jefiery, PAL ; stewards, Bros. Beath, Murray, Shepherd, and Spenco; auditors, PJtLs McLean and Arnold. The R.W. Bro. J. Gore, G.W. G.L. of Scotland, D.QAL, 5.C.., next addressed the master on tho nature of bis office. The wardens were addressed bv R.W. Bro. A. M'Lcan, D.8.G.M., S.-CL, and the. brethren by R.W. Bro. W. Armstead, D.GLS.W-, S.O. The R.W.M. returned thinks to the gathering for their attendance, and also to the officers and members of his lodge for placing him jji the position he occupied- P.M. Bro. Fa.rquharson, on behalf of Lodge St' John TCi| winning, then presented I. PAL Bro. Hatfield with a. PAL’s jewel, as a token of the esteem in which he" was held by the members. The Lodge was closed in due form and on adjournment made to the lower hall, where the visitors and brethren were entertained in that hospitable etjd* for which St. John’s is celebrated. Tho usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honored. “ The Visitors,” a favorite, toast with the brethren of Si. John’s, was acknowledged by the representatives of the sister lodges present. Daring the course of the evening .several songs aim recitations were rendered.
