BATTALION CAMP
The- I'Trsl Infantry Battalion, with Uie exception of the Green Island Rifles, who will hold a compiuiy camp, on dJeceaJiber 8, mai-ched into amp at Taliuna I'aak on Saturday at'terjioon. The Siattalion assembled at the Garrison liaJl on Saturday afternoon, and marched off choitly after 6 p-in., the Garrison Hand playing them out. On reaching the park the work of was first carried out, and latifjue parties were also engaged until tea-Lime. General leave was {irairied in tfie evening from half-past seven. Yesterday moi-ning divine service was conducted by Chaplain-cap tain IJutton, and a battalion parade for inspection by the officer commanding the district succeeded. At 12.30 tent inspection took place, the prizes for the tents falling to the llilles (Corporal Armit's "tent) hrst, the buglers' tent second, and the North Dunedin Rifles (ijergeant Gibson's tent) third. In the afternoon the Garrison Rand played a number of selections, and a largo number oi visitors from the City made the jouniev out to Tahuua Park. The camp ia tinder the command of Lieutenant-colonel Myers, V.D.. with Major Stoneham second in command, other officers being Captain Barclay adjutant and Quartermaster-lieiitenant Moncrieff. The following was the marchiug-in parade state : Battalion Staff : Lieutenant - colonel Myers., Major Stonehant, Captain Adjutant. Barclay, Qnartermaater- lieutenant Moncrieli, Staff-sergeants T'owler and Ren fell. Caversham Rifles : 2 jjebtenaats, 1 coloreergeant, 4 sergeants, 3 corporals, 1 bugler, 31 rank and file; total, 42. Dunedin Cycle Corps: 1 Geo tenant, 1 1 bngler, 20 rank and file; total, 27.' The grand total of all ranks, exclusive of the Bearer Corps (which accompanied the battalion, and was composed of 1 captain, 2 color-sergeants, 2 sergeants, 1 corporal, 1 bugler, 25 rank and file—total, 32), was 328.
