BOWLING.
ROSLYN CLUB. To-day's opening of the season in connection with the above club was attended by about sixty members and a fair sprinkling of the fair sex. The enclosure was nicely decorated with bunting, and the green, though a little sodden as the result of the recent unfavorable weather, presented a most attractive appearance. Mr W. Green (president), in opening the season, expressed regret that the weather had been so unfavorable as to prevent any attempt to play on the green that afternoon. During uie recess several improvements have been effected to the ground, and these, no doubt, members would appreciate. in this connection he would like to express the club's thanks to Mr Walden for his preparation of plans when the green was being laid out, and to Mr Wedge for the taking of the levels. He was especially pleased to see so many, ladies present, and hoped to see them frequently on Saturday afternoons. The club bad added about thirty members to their list, making a total membership of over 100. There was still olenty of room for expansion, and the secretary would be glad to receive the names of intending members. Mrs Green then bowled the first ball of tho season, and members and friends retired to the pavilion bo partake of refreshments prepared by Mrs Green.
The Kaituna Club's green was opened this afternoon by the president (Mr W. Taylor) in ihe presenjj of a large number of bowlers ond their friciids. Considering tho heavy rains of late, the green was in fairly good crder. The game waj President v. Vicepresident.
