Friday. There has been a fair amount of business in dredging stocks during: the week, and probablv the number of sales registered" on 'Oiange is no criterion of the transfers effected. The river is still too high for the majority of gorge dredges; it has averaged sft sin during the week. Alexandra Bonanzas were sold yesterday at 4s od, which is an increase of about Is 6d on recent rates. One cause of the rise may possibly »e looked for in the allocation of a sum uf money by the Government for the purchase of water rights on the goldfields. (Sinoe writing this the secretary of the company forwards the information that the directors have accented an ofler from the Government of £13,050 for the purchase of their water rights and mining privileges, not including their special claim and hydraulic nlant.) Alexandra Leads have eased somewhat; the dredge has not yet completely opened the fac*> where some 50oz return was got before she. stopped to put on the large bucket elevator. Chicago* have been steady, with buyers at 14s 3d and sellers at 14s 9d. Information as to the doings of this company is not as plentiful as it might be. Electrics were sold during the week at 275, about the lowest price they have brought for some time. But they immediately firmed to 28s, and were quoted to-day at 28s 6d (buy) and 29s 6d (sell There were several sales in Enterprise stock during the week at 9s. Golden Beds are still attracting considerable attention. Golden Runs were wanted on Thursday at 375. with a seller at o9s. Several parcels of Mystery Flats changed hands during the week at 355, and they are still wanted at about that price. Shareholders in Mastertons appear to be satisfied to retain their shares, ae there is no response to offers to buy in the viei-mty of 43s 6d. New Trafalgars have been wanted at 235, with a seller in the vicinity of 245. There has been little fluc-

tuation in investment stocks during the week. Bank of New Zealand shares have been a trifle easier.
