Captain Marks, of the Rimiu appears to be doing some tairly smart work tiiis trip. He left Invercargill tor Preservation Inlet at 4 p.m. on Thursday, and pot back to tb«! I!lq£E with a cargo of fish for that port and timber for Diuiedin at 10.30 a.m. to-day. He left the Blaff kite in the day for Half Moon Bay, where lie will complete loading for Dunedin. The Rimu is due here early to-morrow mornim;. The Storm is due here from Wangantii on Monday, and will leave on Monday evening for the port mentioned. Mr Norton, chief officer of the flawed is ashore on sick leave, and his nositkm is being filled pro tern, by Mr Carey, chief officer of the Waiuni.
Captain Lindsay. of the Waipori, is hemic granted holiday leave, and Captain Hatchings will succeed temporarily to the bridge of the steamer. The. Pukaki is bringing abont 1,000 tens of West Coast coal and sleepers. She is dae it Dunedin on Toesdav morning. The Waipori, from Newcastle, fs due at Port Charmers to-morrow rooming, and will cone up to r>iED«K&n. thbonl noon on Monday. The Mofcoia, from .Sydney via Auckland, is expected to arrive at Inmedin sborrt 10 a.m. to-morrow. .She sails ca ihe return trip at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. The fresh N.K. breeze blowing to-day ahould favor Captain M'Bride, who is taking the schooner Jessie Niccol down to the Maequnrie Islands. The Pluekv towed the little vessel dear of the Head* about 10 a.m. to-day.
The scow Advance worked down to the Lower Harbor yesterday, and anchored near Pilot Beach. She stood out to sea about 11 a.m. to-day. and sailed for Tautukn. Moderate winds and smooth water marked the paasape of the Moeraki from Sydney. She arrived alongside the cross wbarf at 8.30 a-m., having ljeft Sydney at 3.12 p.m. on the 28th tilt. She proceeds to Port Chalmers at 8.30 to-morrow, and will sail for Melbourne in the afternoon, her passengers joining her by the 4.5 p.m. train from Dunedin. The Dew steamer Blenheim, built in Sydney for the Blenheim-Wellington trade by the river, arrived at Wellington yesterday, and was "christened" by a meeting of citizens on board. It was stated that Parliament would bo asked next session to pass a Harbor Board Bill to secure further development of the river trade. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. AUCKLAND.
