PROPERTY SALE. A sale of freehold City property invariably attracts a good attendance of the public, and such was the case to-day, when Messrs Park, Reynolds, and Cn. offered at auction a subdivision of the late Mr C. Ziele’o property at corner of York place and Smith street. Competition was good, and the following sales were effected:— Allotment 1, £3OO, Mrs Ahum; 2, £290, Mrs Begg: allotment 3, ±*iUV, Mrs Vallis; allotment 4, £195, Miss Mackenzie. Allotment 5, with the residence thereon, not reaching a satisfactory price, was passed in, and is now opeh for private sale.

Average price to-day for Canterbury mutton, 3Jd per fb, and North Island 3Jd (K©* l4 weights), ojd and 2-Jd respectively for heavy weights; Australian, 3d; and River Plate, 3£d. Lamb: The market is depressed, the weather having been very unfavorable for sales. Stock is accumulating, and the market looks very weak, these being a number of sellers at 4gd light weights and 4d heavy weights. The beef market is quiet, stocks on hand being light. Supplies of River Plate are however heavy. Average prive to-day: For hind-quarters New Zealand beef, 3|d; for fore-quarters, ?|d. There is a good demand for butter, and the market is very firm, oold weather and Russian disturbances having affected tho market. Australian is quoted at 112s ; Danish, IZls; Siberian, 106s. The cheese market is quiet but steady. Canadian, 675. Hemp: The market is'firm, with better demand. Price for New Zealand hemp, “good fair Wellington ” grade, on spot to-day, is £3l; October-Deoemher (shipments, £3l ICte; Manila., October-December shipments, £4l 10s. There is a better demand for cocksfoot seed. Tho average price for bright, New Zealand cocksfoot feed, weighing 171b per bushel, on spot, is 51s per cwt.
