THE CALEDONIAN SOCIETY

A largely-attended meeting ot directors of the Chledoram Society of Otago was held at the society’s rooms 001 Thursday evening, Mr R. Mackenzie, president, in the chair. To fill vacancies, on the directorate Messrs R, Ohisbohn and. Martin Wills were, by unanimous vote, elected to fhe Board. The matter was left in the hands of -the Firm hob Committee, the opinion being voiced that it- would be desirable, in the interests of the bands, to have such an ’ interchange of visits. A letter from Mr C. E. Keast (who was unable to be present through illness), making suggestions as to the carrying cut of cycle events, etc., was referred 'to tho Games and Grounds Committee. The following committees were ap pointed: —Furnace Committee: Messrs Jus Brown, Wm. Jeffery, Jas. Miclrio, D. A. M’Niooll, Dr Gordon Macdonald, P. Miller, W. J. Moore, A. Sligo, C. Speight, and Jas. J&unson (all re-eSxded). Games and Grounds Committee: Messrs John Blarney H. B. Courtis, J. D. Chmenosi, Alex. Gillies, C. E. Keast, E. Harper, J. Moncrieff, Chits. Kotuian, A. Stonehom, and John WedderspoorL Entertainment OomnxiUee: Messrs John. Cameron, F. Carter, D. Cooke, M. Goughian, A- Dempster, T. Elliott, John Gebbie, J. MDonald, George Ritchie, uod J. Smeaton. The ExoetiUvo visited the grounds during the afternoon, and Mi‘ R. Forrest was authorised to carry out such a scheme of drainage as will tend to minimise the risk of the Oval being flooded and carry off the surface water in the quickest "possible time.
