The twelfth •■n"" al general meeting of shareholders in the Golden Treasure Dredging Company, held last evening, was presided over by the chairman (Mi Hart), who. in moving the adoption of the report (already published) and balancesheet, referred to the favorable circumstances under which they met, and ho said he had every reason to believe that the coming year would be as satisfactory as the past. He had great faith in the upper portion of the claim. While u.e old Electric dredge had taken some weeks in getting 80oz out of the ground there, he believed the Golden Treasure would get as much in two weeks. Shareholders could congratulate themselves on having punhased the Long Valley dredge, as it had proved a cheap machine and had given every satisfaction. As regards dividends, the balance-sheet would abow that during the year a return of 17s 6d had been made, while since the 31st of July, the date of compiling the balancesheet, a further 4e had beenpakl—2s last month and 2s that day. The Secretary read a suggestion from Mr Wm. Brown to the effect that an item of ±11,002 16s 10(1 be transferred from the profit and loss account to the reserve account, or that it be written off altogether, and the meeting adopted the latter coarse. The motion for the adoption of the report and balance-sheet (subject to the above attentions) was carried unanimously. Tt was resolved that the secretary's salary be increased from £4O to £SO per annum. Mr Wm. Wood (retiring director) and Mr Haines (auditor) were re-elected. The work of the dredge-master and crew was appreciatively spoken of, and a vote of thanks was passed to them. Similar votes of thanks to the directors, the secretary, and the auditor closed the business. The river height at Alexandra this morning was 4ft 6'm.
