TO-DAY. [Fsok Ova PmuiMimm Baposmß.! WELLINGTON, October 4. AUDIT DEPARTMENT INQUIBY. The Commissioners Act Amendment Bill, introduced this afternoon in connection with the voucher inquiry, provides that when the Supreme Court Judges are Commianooera they shall have all the powers, privileges, and immunities possessed by Judges. They may. similarly enforce orders. The inquiry may be deemed to be from the appointment <of the Comnussjooere to the -report. Tke Act further provides that commissions may be set up by letters patent from the Governor instead of only by Act, as heretofore. The present Bill is due to their being no Act under -which an Audit inquiry could be held. Both tie above and the Supreme Court Judges Bill will be treated as Bills of urgency, and wifi be dealt with to-night, DUPLICATING THE MOSGIEL LINE.
The Minister of Railways states, in reply to Mr Sidey, that the vote of £IO,OOO for the duplication of a the Mosgiel line is to cover preliminary works arrangements only He repeats that aa soon as these' are completed the work s will be prosecuted vigorously. Employment will be given to suitable local men.
