MR BRYCE AND GERMANY
Dr Bortbe, editor of ‘ Die Nation/ asked the Eight Hon. Jas. Bryce, M.P., to give his raws with regard to public opinion in England on tho subject of Germany. Mr Bryce, in his letter in response, speaking for his colleagues in tho late liberal Ministry, as well as for himself, declares that- no serious politician in England has ever thought of questioning the right of Germany to create any military or naval armaments which she considers necessary. “As far as 1 can see, there exists no responsible Statesman, no eomadfirabte section of thinking men, that does not deplore the campaign of mutual incitement which is being carried on,by some English and some German organs of the Press, and thab would not regard a rapture of amicable relations as a trigfatfnl misfortune for both countries.” We have no hostile intentions towards Germany, and no interest in provoking bad relations between Germany and France.
