Tse Tsu Sham, late Chinese adviser and interpreter in the East Rand mines, recently sent the ‘Daily Chronicle’ some circumstantial stories regarding ill-treatment of coolies on the Rand. Mr BolJ, M.P., wrote to the Right Hon. Mr Lyttelton inquiring about tie matter, and Mr Lyttelton, in reply, quoted documentary evidence erpcedng Tsu Shan’s antecedents. He left here eighteen years ago, and went to London, and afterwards prosecuted inquiries as to Die treatment of Chinese m various parts of the British damhaons.
