LAND BOARD
The weekly meeting of the Otago Land Board was held to-day, and attended by the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr D. Barron) and Messrs W. Dallas, J*. Tough, G. Livingstone, and J. M. M'Kenzie. Among tho business done was the following :
The leases of C. J. and E. W. Chrnie (2a and 3a, Duncan Settlement) were declared forfeited for non-payment of rent, «übject>to the approval of the Minister, as also was that of James Marshall (2a Barnego Estate) for non-compliance with the residence oomlition.
The Receiver of Land Revenue was authorised to pay tho sum of £2ll 12s, paid as valuation for improvements on runs 226, 226f, and sections 86 and 92, block 1, St. Bathans district, to W. T. Keenan or his attorneys.
The Glutha County Council forwarded a statement of the proposed expenditure of " thirds" and " fourths" for the periods June- 27 to Octoher 1, 1904, and October 3 to December 31, 1904,' and this was approved. Several applications for leave to transfer leases and licenses were approved, including those of l.i.p. 1,261, Gertrude Hore to James Hore, section 12, block 3, Maniototo district; Li.p. 964, section 57, block 2, Dunedin aDd East Taieri district, George Webb (as administrator of the estate of G. Webb, deceased) to Rebecca Webb; s.g.r. 362, sections 79, 80, 81, block 8, Moeraki (Makareao Estate), Edward Clark to Thomas M'Lay. An application by John Gubbins for rural landi in the Woodland district for cash was approved, subject to the payment of the balance of the purchase money; and an application by Macfarlane and Co. to acquire about 50 acres in the Benger district was granted, subject to the approval of the Minister, Ranger O'Neill to appraise the Talue of the land.
