DUNEDIN CITIZENS’ BAND.
At the half-yearly meeting of the above, held in the band room, Maclaggan street, 1 Mr T. M. Gillies (vice-president) occupied the chair. Tho report for the past half- | year shows the band to be in a veiy good j position, and although considerable expense ! had been incurred by purchasing new instruments the band have still a veiy creditable balance in hand. The proposal to compete in the forthcoming band contest at Ballarat has had to be abandoned, owing to the inability to carry out the financial arrangements, as the hall in which the carnival was to be held had been previously engaged. The Chairman complimented the members on having the band in such a sound position, everything being highly satisfactory, showing matters to be in tho hands of a
capable committee. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
