Wheel Race final was run very late, and resulted as follows: —Anderson 1, Best 2, Furticre 5. It was won by a few inches only. Time, 4itin B§sec. The winner is Ellegaard’s trainer. Tire Gold Stakes resulted as follows : Rntt 1, Ellegaard 2, Morgan 5. Won by a length. Time, 6ntin 45sec. RAVENSBOURNE REGATTA. Should the weather continue fine, no doubt a largo number of pleasure-seekers will to-morow journey to Ravensbourtie, where the residents intend, holding their annual regatta. This district is an. ideal boating centre, and the residents take full advantage of their opportunities. Past regattas have been a decided success from all points, and to-morrow’s function promises to excel all so far hold. Tho motor launch race, tho first of its kind in Otago Harbor, is attracting. keen interest, and the eight l>oats entered intend making a bold bid for first place. The yacht raofs —some four in number—have all large entries, while the rowing, swimming, model yacht, and other items tend to make up an excellent programmme. The Otago Yacht dub also
assist by racing off the final of their club races in conjunction with the regatta. Mr Sutherland’s yacht Mkdge will act as flagship, while the Union Steam Ship Company's launch will convey visitors for a spin on the harbor. As usual the ladies of the district will supply afternoon tea in the boatahedi, for which a charge of Is admission is made. The local band will be sta--1 tinned on the lawn. The Maniototo meeting was ’ begun in beautiful weather yesterday, and tire sum of £1,526 was handled through the totalisator, an increase of £65 on the corresponding day of last year. The starters in the Naseby Cup, were De la Rey (9.5), Tugela. (9.0), and Visionary (7.2), The top-weight was a pronounced favorite, but he was unable to make any impression on Visionary, who won by two lengths. Time, 2min 14sec. Dividend, £4. Other results: Trial, Paparoa (£1 15s); Mile and A-half Trot, Skegger (£l 14s) and Avondale (£1); Welter, Metford (£2 15a); Selling, Almanac (£2 13s); Mile Trot, Tme Card (£1 11s) and Donna Rosa'(£l 16s); Hack, Paparoa (£1 ss); District Handicap, Ladvkiller (£2 I 12s).
