CASUALTIES
Mr Ellis Hills, father of the two lad 3 who were in the boat that was driven to sea at Timaru on December 16, has identified the boot with a human foot inside it, found on the beach on Friday near the Rangitata River, as one belonging to his eldest son John. ' Tho boot was unlaced, and the foot, enclosed in a blue stocking, partly withdrawn from it. AUCKLAND, January 10. The body of a man, aged about tWrty-sbc, not yet identified, was found on tho beach at Pcnsonby early to-day. There was a slight abrasion en the forehead, but no ether marks of violence. It is believed that the deceased acidentally fell into the harbor.
- , • HAMILTON, January 10, Two platelayers named John Kyle «tnd Albert Reed were proceeding to work on a "jigger.'' Near Morrinsville they collided with a goodg train. Reed was killed, and Kyle was injured about the head. Deceased had been married about twelve months, and leave*) a widow and infant.
