THE PREMIER

[Special to the Star.]

CHRISTCHURCH, December 2. The ‘ Press’’ says : —■“ Notwithstanding ttie enigmatical utterances of the Premier in regard to the High Commissionership, we have very good reason for believing that he intends to accept tho position, and will leave for England during the coming year. The lodg speech ho made ill reply to tho shopkeepers’ deputation yesterday afternoon manifestly tired Mr Setldoii. Immediately after its conclusion he received a deputation in regal’d to the proposed international exhibition, and when ho 'came to speak agagi h’is voice scarcely rose above a hoarse whisper.”
