SCENERY PRESERVATION

Some of the members of the Scenery Preservation Commission visited the Glen at Momingbon yesterday forenoon, but during the major portion of the day the Commissioners were engaged on routine and office work.

The Commission received a deputation from Port Chalmers, represented by Mr E. G. Allen, and Mr F. W". Platte-, who asked that the following lands be re-’ served:—The summit and s'opes of Mihiwaka and Mount Pleasant (above the Port Chalmers waterworks); an area at the North Head, with fine bush on it; a reserve adjacent to the fish hatchery; and the nh.-i.ll island in the harbor known as Pudding Mand. It was stated that the beautiful clump of bush on this pretty little island is gradually being destroyed by persons who camp on the island during the summer.
