The United Presbyterian church at Ealmnir and the mission premises at Staffa, both in the Isle of Skye, have been forcibly seized by the Free Church authorities. (Received December 2, at 7.49 a.m-) In accepting the appointment of a Royal Commission, the Free Church suggest, limiting the scope of its powers. Principal Story, of Glasgow University, speaking at Glasgow recently, said that a great deal of sympathy had been given, and rightly given, to the United Free Church, but ho thought the public rather forgot the many claims on their sympathy possessed by those who were familiarly called the Wee Frees. They had shown mi extraordinary tenacity and stubborn adherence to their principles in the face of much opposition and danger. They had not abandoned any position which they had held. They had not compromised any of their principles, and after 1 a prolonged contest they came out victors, and he thought that, looking at ft from the purely legal point of view, they could not deny that they were in the right The authorities of the Free Church have decided to take possession of and occupy immediately on the judgment of the House of Lords being applied the following churches:— Presbytery of Edinburgh.—Buccleueh and Greyfriare, Coulter, Dollar, St. Columba. Coll, Fort William, Glenorchy, KQmallie, Krlbrandon, and Kilrhattan Oban, Salen, Strontian, Tobermory, Presbytery of Inverness.—Daviot, Dnthill, Elgin, Fort Augustus, Glenmoriston, Glcnurqnhart, Grantown-on-Spey, Inverness, Kiltarlity, Moy, Stratherrick. Presbytery of Chanonry. Kileaman, Knockbain, Besolis. Presbytery of Dingwaß Alness and Rosskean, Con tin, Dingwall, Feam, Kilmorack, Kilmuir (Easter), Kilteam, Strathconan, Stratbgarve, Stratbpefier, Urquhart, Urray, Presbytery of Lochcarron.—Appkcross Coigach, Gairlock, Glenelg, Glenshiel, Kinlochewe, LochaLsh, Lochcarron, Plockton, Pool ewe and Aultbea, Torridon. Presbytery of Skye and Uist.—Bracadalc, Duirinisn, Kilmuir, Raasay, Sleat, Snizort (S-), Strath, Uist, Ulz. Presbytery of Lewis. Back, Barras, Carlowav, Cross, Kinloch, Knock, Lecbs, Park, Shawbost, Stornoway, Uig (Bernara). Presbytery of Dornoch.—Aasynt, Clyne, Cnech, Croick, Dornoch, Edderton, Farr, Golspie, Kincardine, Lairg, Rogart, Rosehall, Steer, Strathy, Tongue, Presbytery of Caithness.—Berriedale and Dunbeath, Dunnet, Latheron, Olrig, miscellaneous. In a number of these cases the congregations are divided, one-half entering into tiie Union and the other half adhering to the Free Church. Considerable feeling has been manifested between the two sections, and it is believed by not a few that when it comes to the question of, ejection there will be extraordinary scenes in many of the churches.
