N.S. WALES FINANCE

Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, September 24. (Received September 24, at 10 a.m.) Mr Carruthers, the Premier, informed a deputation that the Government were firmly resolved to amalgamate the two Savings Banks at present under the control of the Government, and to lend money at a lower rate of interest than other banks, so that those engaged in producing would get the money direct at a lower rate, enabling them to cultivate more land. There would be no inducement to wild speculation. The security would have to be as good as that demanded by any well-managed financial institution.
