MR J. C. WILLIAMSON’S COMEDY COMPANY

Prominent amongst the members of Mr J. C. Williamson’s new comedy company, who make their first appearance here on Monday evening, is Mr Wilfred Draycott, who for many years has occupied a foremost position as one of the best light, comedians on the English stage. Mr Draycott has run the whole gamut of comedy work, and comes to the colonies with u ripe experience, which serves him well in the leading parti in the comedies which this company pre sent. The Australian critics pronounce nim to be one of the very best high-comadj actors yet seen out here. Miss PWeno* Hamer is another artist who is apparently going to make herself extremely popular with theatregoers, owing to her cicvet artistic portrayals. When engaged by Mt Williamson, Miss Hamer was. and had been, with the Marquis of Anglesey’s company for over two years. • Miss Florence Le Clcrcq. Mr Athol Forde, Mr Fred W. Permain, Mr Giande Flemming, and Mira Florence Champion will all be seen here lot the first time, and have the repute of being artists who thoroughly understand their work, and contribute materially to the sue ccss with which the company are credited. Apart from the newcomers, "however, great interest will be centred in the performance! of Miss Rose Musgrove, the popular young Australian lady who became suen a favorite here in Mr Williamson’s musical comedies. Her ability was thenjnanifosted in the particular class of worir she assumed, and her admirers will be curious to see bow sho succeeds in legitimate comedy. The season promises to be a successful one. It commences with a five-nights' production of 4 1' ho Marriage of Kitty,’ a comedy that has had a _ big English and American success, and this will be followed by ‘The Duke of Killiecrankie,’ ‘Cousin Kate,’ and ’His F.xccllc.ncy the Governor I ,’ in the order named.
