(Received September 23. nl 8.58 a.m.) At. a farewell durbar held in Lbas.sa the Thibetan officials were inert friendly. They offered gifts of silks and clothes to all the numbers of the mission. Japan congratulated Great Britain on the ratisfaefcory termination of the expedition, which has greatly increased British prestige on rho Astatic Continent. GERMAN AND RUSSIAN OPINION. BERLIN. September 22. (Received September 23. at 9.25 a.m.) The Gennan Press, commenting on the Russian expressions- of indignation over the Thibetan Treaty, and the reports that the Buddfists in Mongolia are likely to rise, assume that China, as she had recognised the progress of Buddhism, sanctioned the Treaty beforehand.
