llr William M'Leod, of Wanaka, who was some years ago in charge of tho police in Clyde, died at Alexandra on Saturday night. The who had l;oen in bad health lately, had been ordered away for a change of climate, and only succeeded in reaching Alexandra when lie was taken worss and rapidly sank. Mr G. 1\ Donnelly, a prominent runholder at. Feruhill (Hawke's Bay), has cabled out that he has purchased at Homo three handsome cnpr\ which he intends presenting to the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club, Hawke's Pay Agricultural and Pastoral Society, :uul Hawke's Bay Mounted Rifles respectively.
Mr H. H. Macandrcw (district, railway engineer for Canterbury) left for the North by the express this morning. Mr and Mrs W. S. Percy (late of Pollard's Opera Company) arrived by the Moeraki to-dav.
