AUCKLAND, J u’v 26. The steamer Waikarc, one day iVte arrived from Sydney at daylight) ;;fu’ an exceptionally tempestuous voyage. Jn Friday last strong easterly gales, aoevmixmed by much rain and a heavy head sea, wore met. Violent squalls sprang ,ip, and continued all that day and the next. Captain Ciawshaw states that during the storm the water was knee-deep on the deck. On Frk day morning a mountainous. sea came aboard, and there must have been a volume of water weighing ICO tons shipped. The Waikare came through, steaming at a reduced speed, unadamaged. At the conclusion of the voyage the passengers met in the saloon, and expressed their aopreciation of the seagoing qualities' of the steamer. They also congratulated Captain Crawshaw on his splendid seamanship.
