“CLAUSE 9.”

Over 5,000 persons attended a public meeting last night in Christchurch. The speakers were Mr T. E. Taylor, M.H.R., Revs. R. S. Gray and W. Ready, and Messrs J. A. Flesher and F. Yatas. They all opposed the no-lice ns e-noliqnor clause. Mr S. Bor eh am spoke on behalf of the Liquor party. A motion was carried approving of the principle of the present legi-.lation, and opposing the introduction of the no-license-no-liquor clause. The meeting was much more orderly than that recently addressed by Mr W. ,W. Collins in favor of Clause 9.
