THE WELLINGTON SHOOTING AFFRAY
An inquest -was held at Wellii.’gto.l' yesterday into the death of Charles Robertson, a lamp-trimmer, who died at the hospital on Monday night, and In connection with which James Barr, a wharf laborer, is under arrest. Medical evidence was given that death resulted from septic peritonitis, caused by a rupture of the intestines by a bullet. Robertson, in his dying depositions, stated that Barr had suspected him of intimacy with his (Barr’s) wife, and had fired two shots, one taking effect in the abdomen. Further evidence was tendered by a woman who saw the two men struggling in the kitchen at Barr’s house one of whom had attempted to take a re■rolver out of Barr’s hands. A shopkeeper identified Barr as a man who purchased a Q e T?, V .f r rJ' le cartridges produced on Saturday. The jury returned a verdict that deceased s death was caused by a wound from a buliet wilfully fired bv James Barr.
