PRESBYTERIAN SYNOD.

Synod met this morning at ten o'clock, the Rev. J. A Will (moderator) presiding.

It was resolved, an the motion of th« Rev. A. Cameron, after some discussion—t (1) "That the Synod vote a sam of £lO3 from the ecclesiastical fond as a grant in aid of the Theological College, and instruct the trustees to pay the same." (2) "Thai the Synod increase the honorarium of the Synod's tutor of Greek to £75." (3) "Thai the trustees be instructed to transfer annually the sum of £125 from the ecclesiastical fund to the Theological Coftege funds." On the motion of the Rev. R. J. Porter, it was xrnanimonsry resolved that the Rev. A. M. Dahrymple be nominated as Moderator of next Synod. rhe following new ministers were admitted as members of Synod, and those of them who were pieseni were formally welcomed by the Moderator:—Revs. A. W. Kjnmmt, MJL, East Taieri; J. S. Ponder, Strath Taieri; J. F. G. Orr, M.A., Warepa; R H. Gaiherwood, Wajaniwa; A. Lakhry, Bluff; R Ferguson, First Church, Invercargill; F. W. Dunlop, MJL, Ph. D., Knox Orach, fcrvexcargfJi; EL J. Blair, Waikaka Valley; and W. F. Craigie, Pukefen.

The Bev, P. R Fraser gave notice of motion to be considered by Synod to-mor-row, as foEows:—''"Whereas the Synod at their meeting in 1902 unanimously adopted and forwarded to the General Assembly an overture from the Presbytery of datha petitioning the Assembly to take steps for tho establishing of an annual conference of Christian churches, with a view to co-opera-tion in matters of common interest, and whereas there is a movement now before the Chnreh for an incorporating union with Congregational and Methodist Churches, and whereas the Synod are of opinion that the present movement is unwise and premature, the Synod hereby resolve respectfully to petition the General Assembly to terminate the present movement and to proceed on the lines suggested by the overture presented by the Synod to the Assembly in 1902, or otherwise, as the Assembly in their wisdom see fit, for the good of, the Church. and God's glory in this land."* Synod then went into committee to consider the regulations passed last year as an interim Act.
