NORFOLK ISLAND.
A SEEMINGLY REASONABLE REQUEST. [Stecui, to the Stak.] CHRISTCHURCH, April 5. An effort is being made by the Bishop of Melanesia to induce the Press Association to allow cable news to be communicated to the people of Norfolk Island as it passes through the cable station there. At present missionaries and other residents on the island °f n obt «ifl do news from the outside world, although scores of Press messages are passing through the hands of the telegraph operators at the station every day. The concession will involve no cost to the proprietors of the cable and no loss to the revenue of the Association.
