A fair day's business was reported at the Metropolitan Markets, where all varieties of summer; fruit were well represented. Valued showed no appreciable alteration. Quotations were as follow:
Oranges-—Extra choice, 14s to 15s; choice, 12s to 13s; good, 10s to 11a; Navels, American, 10s to 12a; small, 4s to 6s per case.. . " . . Lemons.—Local: Extra, choice, 4s 6d to 5s 6d; good; 2s 6d to 3e; Large and rough, Is 6d to 2a; Italian, 10s to lis; American, 8s 6d to 9s per case of 180. Bananas.—Fiji: Choice, 4s 6d to ss; small, Is 6d to 2s per bunch, 9s to lis per box. Queensland: Choice, 3s 6d to 4s od; small, is 6d to 2s 6d per bunch, 8s to 9s per box. Pineapples.—Queen, 6s 6d to 7s 6d; common, 6s to 7b per case. Mulberries.—Local, 3d per quart. Strawberries.—Local, prime, 2s 6d to 4»; small, is to Is 6d per four-quart box. 2s 6d to 3s 6d. Tasmanian, prime, la 6d to 2s 6d per quartepcase.
Tomatoes.—lxk»V prime, 2s 6d to 3s. Queensland, la 6d to 2s 6d; choice colored to 3s per quarter-ease. Apples.—^Loeal: Allsopp'B early, good 4s to ss, small and inferior 2s to 3s per case; Carringtons, colored, extra choice, to Wu, good 6s to 7b, small 3a to 4s; jam lots 2s, medium 4s to ss, gin case. ' Apricota.—Local: Choice, 2s 6d to 3s par half-case j good, Is 6d to 3s per gin case. Plums.—Local: Seedlings, Is to 2s: Black Bully, 4s 6d to ss; choice, 6a; small, 2s to 2s 6d per gin case. Peaches.—Briggs's early May, extra, choice, 28 6d to 3s per hail-case; small, Is to Is 6d; choice, 2s 6d per gin case; Devlin's, same as for Briggs'a Cherries^—Local: Choice black, 3s 6d to 4s; white, 3s to 3s 6i Melbourne: Black, extra choice, 4s 6d; good, 2s 6d to 3s; inferior from 6d per quarter-case. Nectarines.—tehoice, ss '; good, 3s to 4s;j small, Is 6d to 2s per half-case. Water-melons.—Choice, 7s 6d to 10s per dozen.
Passion Fruit.—Queensland, 2s 6d to 3» 6d per quarter-case, 5s to 6s 6d per Figs.—6s per quarter-case.
