LATE COMMERCIAL.
THE WOOL SALES. TTMARU, January 15. The second wool sale qf the season opened here this morning. The catalogue was large, comprising over 10,000 lots, and the attendance was good,' over thirty Home trayers 'being present. The colonial "mills ■were well represented. Competition was keen, especially for the finer wools, and prices showed a distinct improvement pn the last sale held here. Clean, lustrous cross and three-quarter bred were fully l£d per lb better than at the first sale of the season, other wools showing an advance of fully Id. per lb. At noon the beat prices obtained were: Merhw, 9£d; half-bred, 9sd; crossbred, Bad; and 9d. Later. Biddings were very spirited, and apart from tiie merino clips, not much was passed in. The top prices were: Half-bred, B£d (one special tot, 10-jd); three-quarter-bred, B£d; cross-bred, B±d; backs, 9£d; matted and rams, 6jd; pieces, 6d; bellies, 6|d; locks, 3M; merino, 9£d; merino pieces. 8d; bellies 7|d;'locks, 4fd. The »ale all round was very satisfactory.
