VOLUNTEERING.

The annnal match between teams from the Highland Ritles and es-members of tbe corps was fired on the range at IVlichet Bay on Saturday. The conditions were eleven'men a side, seven shota and sighter at 200 and 500 yards, lowest score on each side to count out; but. as only seven ex-membeTS put in an appearance, three of the present members went over to the other side, making ton men aside. 'Hie totals- were: Present Members. 587 (Private Lewis 67, Lieutenant Dempster 64); Ex-members. 553 (ex-Private S. M'Leau 62, Sergeant Auld 62). The teams met at a smoke concert in the band room at the Garrison Hall in the evening.

The Port Chalmers Navals on Saturday fired the third (final) competition for priiies presented by Messrs J;:*. Craie, A. C. Fullarton, E. Godfred. J. B. Shanks,, and Russell. Condition:; : Three competitions, two to count; ten sl.ois: at 300 and SCO yards.
