THIS DAY. [Peok Oxra Parllucehtaey Refobteb.] Eight days' extension was granted to the Labor BJUs Committee to report on the Labor Department and Workers' Compensation for Accidents Bills.

Mr Allen gave notice of his intention to ask whether the Government had considered a scheme for the establishment of a Veterinary surgeons' school in connection with the Otago University. The Education Committee reported recommending that training colleges be esrab-> Jished in each of the four centres, and that training in literary and scientific work be firovided for, if possible, by university colPges. —The report was referred to the Government for consideration.

He explained that since the Bill passed through committee there had been communications with the Agent-General, with the result that it had been decided to ask the House to reduce the rate of interest from sto 44 per cent.---Mr James Allen (gleefully) : " Bravo, the Opposition !"—Mr Seddon: " I think the member for Bruce will tdmit the Premier is a much braver man than he gave himself credit for."—Mr Massey said the Treasurer's action was another instance of the good effect of the advice received by the Government from the Opposition benches.—The Bill was recommitted, and the rate of interest reduced to 44 per cent.—The same action was taken with regard to the Public Loans Renewal BUI
