HOTEL LIGHTS.

TO THE EDITOR Sir, —I was much surprised at reading iu your paper in regard to hotelkeepers burning a light from sunset to sunrise. 1 must explain that in .London the police have to report al} cases of publicans keening a light burning after the hour of closing. It is considered there that the light burning means that (he house is open. I explained this to the head of police when I was on the Licensing Bsnch some twenty years ago at Invercargill. After that it was altered, and all lights out at time of closing. You can get a copy of the regulations at Scotland Yard.—l am, etc., Ex-P.C. Bartlett, Bow street, A.S.M.P. July 20.
