SABBATH SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY.

♦ At the annual social meeting connected with the Upper Junction Presbyterian Sabbath School and the congregation, notwithstanding the snowstorm, there was a good attendance, especially of the young people. An interesting programme consisting of eighteen items of songs and recitations, contributed mostly by the children, was gone through. The teacher of the day school (Mr Barnett) gave a reading. Speeches were delivered by Captain Dunlely, Mr D. Beath (the superintendent of the Sabbath school), Mr Barnett, and the chairman (the Rev. D. Borrie). An interesting feature of the social was the presentation of over £23 to Mr and Mrs Herring for their services for many years, especially of Mrs Herring, j who has taught for over twelve years in the Sabbath school, and labored in- many ways for the spiritual welfare of the community. The chairman, in making the presentation, made reference to the good work done bv Mrs Herring, and hoped that she might long be spared to continue such labors of love for the Master. Special votes of thanks were passed to Miss Gray, who presided at the organ, and Miss Brown for their services in the school and for training the children. "Votes of thanks were also passed to Mr D. Beath, superintendent, and to all who helped to

make the social a success. Altogether a pleasant and profitable evening was spent
