THE FARMERS’ UNION.

PALMERSTON NORTH, Mav 26. A conference of delegates from tne Farmers’ Union in the Wellington provincial district opened here this morning, and are expected to terminate their Tabors tomorrow. There was a large attendance, practically all branches being represented.' The chaiman (Mr J. S. Wilson), president of the Colonial Executive, delivered a lengthy odlress dealing with the work and objects already achieved by the Union, and expressed the opinion the House would have to come to some decision regarding the question of land tenure during the ensuing session. The election of officers resulted thus:—President, J. S, Wilson (reelected) ; vice-president, D.. Plat (Wanganui) ; auditor, W. Rutherford (Palmerston, re-elected). The balance-sheet, disclosing a satisfactory state of affairs, was adopted. A lengthy discussion is now taking place on questions affecting land tenure'moved by the Te Horo, Taihape, ana other jaugns.
