MORNINGTON TRAMWAYS.
A special. meeting of the Mominirton Borouch Council was held on Thur day evening to consider tramway matters. After certain proposals submitted by Mayor Annand had been considered, the following resolutions were agreed to: ° "That the new piece of Yope required to make good the extension be procured from Sydney. "That the engineer be asked to state in writing as to the suitability and safety of one- of the new cars be.ng used temporran.y upon the extension line." "That no engineer be asked to report upon the permanent scheme until the Council have had time to.corsider, when a mettmg is to be held in about a fortnight." "That the Works and Tramways Committees draw up a schedule of. supplier necessary both for the tramways and for the borough for the year, but that all materials, to be imported, be indented direct by the Council." " That the present tramways management remain as at present until the completion of the repairs.". A Tramways Board proposal was rejected, the Council holding that the ratepayers imposed a duty upon them that they won,d not hand over to any other person. lhe appointment of manager and secretary was held over until a permanent scheme was estab'ished.
