MASTERTON, May 21. W. B. Craighead, tailor, has been miss* inp from Mafterton for a week. The police are inquiring, but so far no clue has been discovered as to what has became of him.

. AUCKLAND, May 21. The Iris, the cable-repairing steamer, arrived from Sydney this- morning, and will establish her headquarters at Auckland or Fiji. She is on a three-years', commission, and will be stationed between Brisbane and Vancouver. The vessel will probably leave this port for Vancouver at .an early date. The Hon. T. Y. Duncan arrived here yesterday.

TTMARU,. May 21. A short sitting of tie Government Land Valuation . Assessment Court for the Borough of Timaru was held hero to-day. Very few objections were, heard. The reductions allowed aggregated £225. The total capital value is £866,587; unimproved value, £324,168; value of improvements, £542,419. The wife of Mr Archibald Aydon, bootmaker, gave birth to triplets last night—all boys. The family already numbered seven sons. Mrs Aydon is thirty-five years of age.
