TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Will you give me space to correct the writer "Dunback" on the above subject? Ho states that the rates at present are 3s 6d, whereas the correct present rate is 2s Bd. He also states that owing to the loss of license fees through Prohibition the rates must be increased. He is wrong again, as owing to the large increase in the
sale of water the one will more ■ratan adjust the other. The very existence of Port Chalmers, however, as a hive of industry is so intimately bound up with the dock question that we understand a vote of the ratepayers will shortly be taken to tangibly support the Dock Trust in this project by guaranteeing interest to. a certain sum, so that the work may Be-started at once.—l am, etc., • Fobwakd.
