THE FREE PURCHASE SYSTEM. A meeting of the retailers’ section of the Otago Employers’ Association was held this morning to consider the working of the cooperative free-purchase system, which has been introduced by some traders. There was a large attendance. The following resolutions were passed on the subject:— _ “ That this meeting of the retailers’ section of the Otago Employers’ Association express their strong disapprobation of the method adopted by some traders in issuing coupons in such a manner as to enable purchasers to obtain ‘one pound’s worth of goods for nothin as this system is open to many abuses and detrimental to fair trading.
