OTAGO GYMNASTIC ASSOCIATION.
A special general meeting of the above Association was held in the Dunedin Competitions Office on Saturday evening, when there were present Messrs J. A. Park (in the chair), W. Davidson, A. E Chapman (Moruington), A. Black (George street), G. G. Austin, F C. Liggins' (Dunedin), J W. Smith, E. D Grace (High street), A C. Hanlon, D. Jolly. A. D. Hudson (Albany street), E. Ackroyd, H Vanes, A. Smith (Trinity), F Mitchell (Havensboume), J. Drumm (St. Joseph’s), and E S. Wilson (hon. secretary). The following new clubs were affiliated to the Association : —Ravens bourn©, High street Ladies’ Club, and St. Joseph's M\utnastic Club.' The rules for the first grade competition, drawn up by the Committee. - were next submitted to the delegate's, and with tinexception of rule 4 they were adopted. On the motion of Mr Davidson, seconded by Mr Black, rule 4 was altered to the following : —“That paid instructors shall In debarred from competing with their teams." On the motion of Mr Liggins. second-, d by Mr Grace, the following role was adder, to the rules for first grade competition - “That all teams shall cum-i.-t of six lon fide members of the club, and that suel members shall represent one club only in any one season.” On the motion of Mr Black, seconded b\ Mr J. VV. Sin th, the following udditio> was made to rule s;—“That alfbves shah be drawn in the first round.” On the motion of Mr Park, seconded lr Mr Liggins, it was decided to iiiutitute , second grade competition. A set of rule to govern this competition was adopted On the motion of Mr Hanion. seconder by Mr Chapman, it was decided—“ Tha no person who has competed in a fir ; grade competition shall, without the con sent of the Executive Committee, be allowed to compete in a second grade com petition, or vice versa.”
It was further resolved that the Associa tion inaugurate an open championship. ThCommittee submitted a set of rules foi this competition, which was adopted wit I the exception of rule 2, which was altered to read as follows That it' shall b open to all amateur gymnasts in Otago u the terms of rule 18 of the N.Z.A AA Entries to close on July 31.” On the motion of Mr J. A Park seconded by Mr Grace, it was decided t. hold an interprovincial contest. The rule for this competition, as drawn up by th Committee, were also adopted. It was decided to, again hold a ladies competition, arrangements to be left i: the hands of the Committee. The fob lowing were appointed a Selection Com mitteeMessrs F. C. Liggins, A. D Hudson, and J. Galloway. The appoint ment of judges was left in the hands o' the Executive. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr Liggins for the pains he had taken in drawim np the rules for tho various competitions/.
