EDUCATION BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Education Board was held this afternoon, and attended by Messrs W. Snow (chairman), R. Peattie, J. Sim, A. Marshall, J. Mitchell, W. Nicolson, and the Rev. P. B. Fraser. Mr T. Mackenzie, M.H.R., apologised for his absence.
The following claims for half-cost of improvement of buildings were granted:— | Fairfax, fencing, etc., £2 4s; Wharekuri, pump, etc., £3 10s; Waikouaiti, repairs to janitor's house, £l2. The recommendation for the appointment of the following officers for the battalions was adopted:—First Battalion : Majox Murray, Adjutant IFLaren, Quartermastel McLean. Second Battalion; Major Chapman, Adjutant Smith, Quartermaster Fitzgerald. Third Battalion: Major Burlinaon, Adjutant Smeaton, Quartermaster Whetter,' Fourth (South Otago) Major M'tflrey, Adjutant Moir, Quartermaster Jones. Mr C. R. Smith was appointed lieutenant of the Paitangata Cadets. The following tenders were accepted:— Naseby, additional class room, Ball and Son, £215; Technical School at Port Chalmen. Joseph Manning, £467. The Board then went into committee.
